Mr. David Albert

Mr. Albert earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts at the University of Steubenville, and his Master of Ministry at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He has been in pastoral ministry since 1997, and began his tenure at FCA in 2007. Two of his daughters are FCA graduates, and the youngest will be joining them all too soon.

Mrs. Albert earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Franciscan University of Steubenville.  Since then, she has served as a language teacher for international students, a sub in public schools in Ohio, has had three daughters, and has taught in both church and private school settings.  She has taught at FCA since the fall of 2006. Two daughters are FCA graduates, and the youngest will be joining them all too soon.

Kathy completed her teaching degree at Hiram College, where Kathy accepted Christ. She completed her MA in Higher Education in 1987 and soon married Tom Alexander, a pastor. Tom and Kathy served at Fairfield Christian Church for 14 years and she still considers FCC her home church. Tom and Kathy currently serve at Amazing Grace Christian Church in Grove City, Ohio. Kathy is passionate about women's Bible studies, orphan care and adoption. Kathy and Tom have five children; two who graduated from FCA and two who are current students.

In 1999, after 25 years in healthcare research/management Mrs. Barthelmas answered the call to teach middle school. With a BA and BS from The Ohio State University and graduate coursework in Leadership, Mrs. Barthelmas teaches middle school math, offering both classroom and a blended learning environment. Mrs. Barthelmas’ specialties include middle school math and individualized learning through mastery of course topics. Additionally she teaches middle school Bible, organizes mission trips for middle school students and serves her community in the healthcare arena.

Kris Brake earned her B.A. at Capital University in Special Education K-12, Regular Education K-8 and Reading K-12. She has been in Christian Education since 1990. She has been a part of the FCA family since 2005. She has had 3 of her 4 children graduate from FCA. She works in the Intervention Department with students who struggle academically. She fully believes that “With God ALL thing are possible.”

Superintendent Craig Carpenter previously served as Middle School and High School Principal (2006 -2013) and prior to his employment at FCA, he taught in Lancaster City Schools for six-years. After college, he worked ten-years as an Operations Manager at a Fortune 500 company in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Carpenter obtained his graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University and earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University. He and his wife, Shelly, have three children who attend FCA. They reside in Lancaster and are members of Fairfield Christian Church. Mr. Carpenter’s leadership, education and business experience have helped to bring about successful programs and curriculum changes and he has a clear vision for moving FCA forward.
Heather Coyan

Heather Coyan graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Music Education from Ohio Christian University in 2013. Prior to joining Fairfield Christian Academy, she taught K-4 general music and 5th and 6th grade band and choir at Madison Christian School. Heather and her husband, Brian, have four daughters, who all attend Fairfield Christian Academy. She and her family attend TurnPoint Apostolic Church in Groveport, OH, where she is heavily involved in the music ministry and leads children’s worship. At home she enjoys working out, reading and creating “honey do” lists while surfing Pinterest.

Katherine (Katie) Custer, born in Warren, Ohio, received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education (K-8) from Bowling Green State University. She taught for 11 years in Grandview Heights City School District in fourth and fifth grade, as well as, reading intervention. 
Mrs. Custer lived in Columbus, Ohio for 17 years before moving to Lancaster with her husband and three children nine years ago. She taught at FCA for two years then took some time off and is back with us again teaching eighth grade American History.

Kathryn (Katie) Doyle attended Mount Vernon Nazarene University where she received her B.S. in Spanish Education.  Katie attended Logan High School.
Some of her hobbies include running, reading and traveling.
 
Farrell, Kyle
Mr. Farrell is a graduate of Coshocton High School and Ohio Christian University where he majored in Middle Childhood Eduation and minored in Biblical Studies.  He attends Together Ministries where he and his wife Cassie are Youth Directors.  Coach Farrell has been an assistant football coach for FCA under Coach Anthony Turner for 3 years.  He enjoys sports, video games, comic books, fishing and hiking.  His life verse is John 8:7.

Barry A. Garrett was born, raised, and is still living in Lancaster, Ohio. Barry is happily married to his college sweetheart and has one son who is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Barry received degrees from Ohio University: B.S. in Computer Science & M.S. in Mathematics. He is licensed by State of Ohio to teach Secondary Math, grades 7-12. Barry has been teaching at Fairfield Christian Academy since 2003.

Beth Hawks is married to another FCA teacher, Chris Hawks. They have three children, one of whom is a recent graduate of FCA and now attending the University of Cincinnati. Beth is the Senior English, Senior Project and PSEO Public Speaking instructor at Fairfield Christian Academy. She is a graduate of Ohio University where she earned her Masters degree of Education in Cultural Studies and Communication Studies. In addition to teaching at FCA, Mrs. Hawks is an adjunct instructor at Ohio University teaching Cultural Studies and Communication Studies courses.

Chris Hawks is the chemistry, physics, photography and technology instructor at Fairfield Christian Academy. He is a graduate of Clarion University where he earned his Masters degree of Education in Science and is currently working toward his Ph.D. in Instructional Technology at Ohio University.  In addition to teaching at FCA, Mr. Hawks is an adjunct instructor at Ohio University who teaches a middle school science methods course as well as a technology in education course.

Mr. Hildenbrand graduated from Logan Elm High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio University.  He has taught math at Lancaster High School for the last 19 years.  Jason has 2 children that attend FCA.  

 Jason has helped coach biddy volleyball for 3 years and biddy basketball for 2 years. 

He enjoys running with his wife, playing volleyball with his daughter and watching Ohio State football with his son. 

Jason is also the worship leader for the last 21 years at his church, Amanda Church of God.

His life verse is Psalms 24:3-4 "who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?  Who may stand in his holy place?  4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god".

Mr. Hooper graduated from Ohio University in 1972 with a BS degree in Education.  He furthered his education and received his Master's degree at Union College, Kentucky in 1987.
Mr. Hooper is married to Debbie and has 2 children, Clay & Nan.
He has been in Physical Education for 43 years and also serves as Head Basketball Coach.

Stacie Hopple graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor's  degree in education/mathematics. She received her Masters in education from Marygrove College in Michigan.  Mrs. Hopple taught in Columbus Public Schools for 7 years before coming to FCA in 2005. Stacie also teaches science and computer classes for Ohio Christian University.  She is married with 3 children who attend FCA. Mrs. Hopple and her husband also own a Christmas tree farm.

Becky Knechtel was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to missionary parents. She graduated from high school in Brookville, Indiana in 1977 and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education at Capital University in 1981. She went on to earn her Master of Science in School Counseling at the University of Dayton in 1986. Becky is married to Craig, who is a retired science teacher from the Teays Valley School district. She has two sons, Matt and Eric, who are both Fairfield Christian Academy alumni. Her daughter-in-law, Brittany, is also an FCA graduate. As a guidance counselor, Becky meets with the students throughout their high school years to help them plan their schedules, get ready for college entrance testing, make college visits, and assist with the application process for college and scholarship programs. In addition to career and college guidance she is also available for general counseling with the students in the areas of academic and personal development issues.

Catherine (Kate) Kumler, a native of Rochester Hills, Michigan, received her Bachelor of Science in English Language and Linguistics from Eastern Michigan University in 1991. She also received her Michigan teaching certificate for Secondary Education and taught for five years at Shelby Junior High School in Utica, Michigan. Mrs. Kumler moved to Lancaster with her husband and three week old daughter in 1997. After having two more children and staying home to raise them, Mrs. Kumler began teaching at Fairfield Christian Academy in the fall of 2009. She teaches high school English and high school Bible and is also FCA’s English Department Chair and Junior Class Advisor.

Sjonna (pronounced Shanna) attended New Lexington High School and then went on to attend college at Ohio University.  She graduated with a Bachelor's in Education with a minor in English.
Sjonna enjoys spending time with family, friends, her dogs, traveling, camping and reading everyday.  
She attends Hemlock Community Church and serves as the Pre-teen Sunday School Teacher and also the Ladies Book Club leader.

Denise Porter is a 1990 graduate of Capital University.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Professional Writing.  She resides in the Lancaster area with her husband and 2 teenage daughters.
Kristen Powell

Kristen has worked as a nurse for 4 years in Intensive Care and Progressive Care at Fairfield Medical Center.  She has also worked as a school nurse at Lancaster City School and Berne Union. 
 
Kristen hearned her BS in Nursing from Capital University and also holds a MA in Management from Webster University.  Additionally Kristen has a BA in Elementary Education from UNC Charlotte.
 
She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, walking their dog and traveling.  Kristen and her husband have a daughter who attends FCA.
 
They are very involved in their church and serve in the nursery, assist with outreach projects and teach Sunday School.
 
Kristen's Life Verse is: Lamentations 3:22-23 - The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 
Mrs. Ellen Ratliff

Ellen joined the FCA staff in 1998, after moving to Lancaster area from Dayton, Ohio. She has a BS in Communications from Ohio University, and extensive studies in Special Education from Wright State University, and Sinclair Community College.   During summer break, Ellen leads short term mission teams to Montego Bay, Jamaica for Vacation Bible School. Every spring, she coordinates the 10-11 grade class mission trip to Echoing Hills Village, a camp for adults and youth with disabilities. Currently, Ellen serves as an Executive Board member of both Echoing Hills Village Inc. and Called to Excellence Ministries.  Ellen has been married to her high school sweetheart for 36 years. They have 2 sons, a granddaughter, grandson, a Bassett Hound and a Pug. Her life verse is 2 Chronicles 20:12.

 Rob attended Amanda-Clearcreek High School and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ohio University, and his Resident Educator (P-12 Visual Art) License from Ashland University.
He enjoys drawing, painting, reading, golf, fishing, photography, and hiking!

Ms. Roark received her Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio Christian University, specializing in Language Arts and Mathematics.  She is a graduate of Amanda Clearcreek HS and has cousins who are currently attending FCA.  She enjoys painting, crafts and reading.  She is a member of Royalton Community Church and serves as a youth leader and expressing sign language coach.  Her life verse is Ecc. 3:11:  He has made everything beautiful in His time.

Cynthia Rogers graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a BS degree in biology and chemistry. She earned a Master’s degree in science education from the University of Southern California. Cynthia teaches physical science, biology and anatomy and physiology at FCA. Although new to FCA, she has taught at the secondary and college level for several years. Mrs. Rogers and her sixth grade son are thrilled to be a part of FCA.
Mrs. Teresa Seaman

Teresa Seaman began teaching at FCA in 1999. She received her B.S. Social Studies Education from The Ohio State University and her Master’s of Social Sciences degree from Ohio University. Teresa teaches high school history classes, including a semester class on the Holocaust. Teresa was awarded the Holocaust Teacher of the year in 2005 as well as being selected as a Gillette Economic Scholar. She is also an adjunct professor at Ohio Christian University and teaches post-secondary classes. Teresa resides in Pickerington with her husband where she attends Logos Bible Church. She has two grown sons and 5 grandchildren. In her spare time Teresa reads and travels.

Janis Smeltzer is a native of Lancaster Ohio and completed her undergraduate in Elementary Education and Master of Social Science degrees at Ohio University. Mrs. Smeltzer and her husband Andy are members of First Baptist Church of Lancaster with their three daughters and are active in the couples ministry, youth ministry and AWANA programs. Mrs. Smeltzer previously taught in the Fairfield Union School district and at Ohio University – Lancaster before joining FCA in 2010.

Kara Stephens is a 2010 graduate of Fairfield Christian Academy who is now back at FCA working in many different areas as the Admissions Director, Assistant to the Guidance Counselor and the Auxiliary Clerk. Kara received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ohio Christian University. She is currently
working on her Masters in School Counseling at the University of the Southwest. Her goal is to be a High School Guidance Counselor because she enjoys working with kids and helping them with their future. Kara and her husband Zach, who graduated from FCA in 2006, are expecting their first child in December 2014. They reside in Lancaster and are members of Fairfield Christian Church. Kara’s life verse is Joshua 1:9.
Dale White

Media Director
Dale White is a veteran of the television and media industry with years of experience in nearly every aspect of multimedia production, promotions and programming. He is an award-winning producer with a background in sports & news, documentaries, feature film and entertainment.

 

Dale begin his career at WBNS-10TV in Columbus, Ohio. In 1999, he co-found Brainstorm Media, Inc., a local production company, and has spent time as senior producer of Breakthrough Ministries at World Harvest Church, assistant Education Director at the Ohio Center for Broadcasting, (Ohio Media School), and President at Whitehouse Media Group.

 

Dale is originally from Detroit, Michigan and an alumnus of Spec Howard School of Media Arts in Detroit and has a degree in Electronic Engineering from the Ohio Institute of Technology (DeVry).

Wise, Jessica
English Teacher
Ms. Wise is a graduate of Taylor University with a degree in Secondary English Education.  She is a member of Amazing Grace Christian Church where she serves on the worship team and as a youth sponsor with her soon-to-be husband.  She studied abroad in Ireland for 4 months and can't wait to visit again.  Her life verse is Psalm 46:10.
